A Note of Thanks from Javier - July 2008
Like any organization, MTAFC could not do as well as it does without the help of volunteers. Terry, Mary and Larry THANKS for your help every Thursday, Don your efforts every Wednesday during Texas Hold ‘Em are greatly appreciated. Don Presley is in the process of organizing Wii nights. Tommy, thanks for the new poker table. To all of you that contribute so much to the club a heartfelt THANK YOU, you’re never forgotten.
Last but not least, to my staff. The month of June was heavy with events but particularly the last week of the month when we were open six days and the events were large. Your tireless efforts made each and every event a resounding success.
You are the BEST, Thanks.
Deployed Forces Times Begin
The time has arrived for MTAFC and it’s members, families and friends to do our share in supporting our Deployed Forces. I fully understand that our troops are always in our thoughts and that’s a great thing. Like in many of your families, my Marine son just returned from deployment in Iraq and he told me what it meant to him and his platoon to receive letters, postcards and care packages not only from family and friends but from total strangers that “adopted” them simply after a conversation with me or friends in other States that know us.
Although MY loved one has returned safe and sound, there are many of your and other loved ones already deployed or soon to be deployed so let’s do what WE can to let them know how much we care. Bring in post cards, letters or small care packages and every week I’ll mail them to a different unit of USAF, USAR, USMC, USN, USCG. This, will not a one time effort but it will continue for as long as post cards, letters and/or care packages arrive. Thank You in advance for your support.
Club Previews
- The Month of July will begin Deployed Forces Recognition Times, those of us here need to do more for those of our service men and women over there enduring and sacrificing for no other reason than love for their country.
- During September, we’ll honor the families of those deployed, they also go unrecognized by those who don’t have family or friends serving overseas.
- October will see the “beginning” of toy collecting campaigns for the children of those deployed, is never too early to start.
- In November, we’ll give THANKS to ALL of our service men and women whether deployed or at home, active or reserve.
- God willing, in December we’ll check with Santa to see if he can make a “Special Appearance” to deliver those presents that started arriving in October (have to beat the Christmas “rush”, you know) and, we’ll give it our best effort to have a Christmas AND a New Year’s Eve Party.
- Amongst all these activities, we’ll squeeze a few “Free Blood Pressure Clinics”, a rummage sale in August, retirements, promotions, weddings or any event and of course our ALS, NCOA and OCS classes.
